Born in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan, April 17, 1935; son of Kunika and Chiyoko (Kawamura) Tabata; married Teiko Murata, Nov. 6, 1960; children: Yuko (see her web site in Japanese), Yasuko.

Researcher Radiation Center of Osaka Prefecture, Sakai, 1960-69; senior researcher, 1969-85; chief researcher, 1985-90; professor Osaka Prefecture University, Sakai, 1990-99; emeritus professor, 1999-; part-time researcher Japan Atomic Energy Research Institute (presently Japan Atomic Energy Agency), Naka-gun, Ibaraki Prefecture, 1984-99; consultant Osaka Nuclear Science Association, Osaka, 2000-.

Co-authored Brush Up English for Science, 1989 (in Japanese); Radiation Dosimetry of Electron Beams for Radiation Processing, 1990 (in Japanese).

Contributed more than 90 articles to more than 20 professional journals in the fields of computers, physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, biology and psychology.

Recipient: Takamine prize, Dr. Takamine Jokichi Memorial Foundation, 1953.
